Not everyone wants to workout on the beach in front of everyone and certainly not everyone wants to watch. Working out can be a chore if you’re not into the whole beach fitness vibe. Luckily, Miami offers gyms and a plethora of the sort so if you are a gym rat, you can find the perfect fit to flex your muscles. Here are some of the best gyms in Miami.

You’re scrolling through your Instagram and what happens? That one girl you follow that’s super fit, like Sarah Connor in Terminator 2 - fit just starts working out in front of your face. Then there’s always that “Follow me for tips to get that summer body” in her bio and it makes you want to throw chicken nuggets at her face. Of course, you are eating Ben and Jerry’s and Five Guys on a daily basis, which she’s probably never even touched in her life. It’s frustrating when you’re on the other side of the glass looking at all of the people that are in shape. It’s not like you couldn’t be fit, you just lack the motivation to go to the gym. Or even worse, it’s the people AT the gym that deter you from going. At any rate, you can get the body you want with minimal physical work and without a gym membership. This is fitness for the person that rather be fittin’ dis pizza in their mouth. Ditch the Crazy Diet and Drink More Water It sounds simple and that’s why it’s so awesome. Drinking water sometimes can be a challenge for people that like to drink their sugar in things like Soda and Juice. But replacing your go to sweet beverage for water, you’re not only giving some TLC to your metabolism, but you’re helping your hair and skin. Drinking cold water burns more calories than drinking water at room temperature. If you’d like, add some fruit to infuse flavor into your water and you’ll drink more. It also helps if you have your own bottle that you can refill wherever you go. Having something with you is a constant reminder to increase your water intake, especially if you’re at the beach. Keeping hydrated is key for shedding pounds and feeling good about it. Water can also help you feel full, so instead of eating that last piece of the quesadilla you were “supposed to share”, wash it down with some extra water. Yeah, you might pee like a pregnant woman, but you definitely won’t look like one. Walk, Don’t Run. Going somewhere? Can you get there without calling an Uber? If so, maybe take a stroll. We as a generation are so used to having whatever we need at our fingertips including transportation. We are like one more century from being carted around like the slobs in Wall-E. So often we take for granted the fact that we can just walk or bike somewhere. If you’re already walking, take the scenic route to your destination. Walking also helps wake up your body as well as your mind. Our every day stresses could be part of what keeps us from attaining the body we want, so clearing your head by going on a walk is a great way to make sure you’re getting a little bit of personal time. If you don’t really have access to walking anywhere (or maybe that’s just your excuse not to), try to make a small daily walking route to go and… maybe get a bottle of water! We’re already looking better, don’t you think? Minimal Planning, Maximum Gain Meal planning can be very intimidating and time consuming, principally with those that have to budget their time and their money. Most days that aren’t spent working are spent either doing the least or the most. We’re either melting into the couch watching Twin Peaks or we’re dying from alcohol poisoning from the night before. Meal planning can almost seem like a fairytale concept. The reality is that planning meals and making them ahead of time is cheaper and better for you. By preparing meals, you’re planning what kind of money you’re spending at the grocery store. This also means you’ll have food you can bring to work or come home and that will deter you from making snap decisions with lunch and dinner like eating at Popeye’s for the 3rd time this week (and it’s only Tuesday). Making meals that are simple and cheap like roasted chicken with vegetables and Salad in a Jar meals that you can store for days and even freeze will help you lose weight in ways you didn’t think were possible. Good Friends Pay Up Obviously, you’re going to have to do a little bit of physical work, but driving yourself crazy trying to get to the gym everyday or even do home workouts without motivation is nearly impossible. My biggest recommendation? Drag your friend that’s just as unwilling as you and make a bet. In the spirit of Biggest Loser, it’s always easier to be motivated when there’s money involved so make a friendly wager on yourself and your fitness goal for the month. If you save at least one or two days to do a light workout, you’ll see some results, and even more so if you have someone betting against you. Whether it’s going for a walk together, joining a class at the Y or just doing some yoga at home to some Youtube videos, these things are always easier when you have someone doing them with you. Whether it be your S/O or your bff, having someone that you can race against but also depend on will always catapult you to success. I know that if you’re reading this, the last thing you want to do is exert yourself more than you have to, but seeing someone else sweat with you makes it feel like you’re not working as hard. Eventually, you may even enjoy it, buuuuuuuuuut let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The point is exercising sucks and you really can’t tell me otherwise, but the more you take care of yourself, the less you have to worry about working up a sweat. A good and healthy body starts with a good and healthy foundation in your mind and your core and with the knowledge that every body is beautiful no matter what, but there’s nothing wrong with wanting to tone up. Setting yourself up for success starts with simply taking care of your body and knowing your bad habits (binge drinking the entire weekend) from good habits (drinking more water and getting some daily walking). Grab a buddy, take a walk, prep that food and drink more water and in a month’s time you’ll be looking and feeling great.
