Not everyone wants to workout on the beach in front of everyone and certainly not everyone wants to watch. Working out can be a chore if you’re not into the whole beach fitness vibe. Luckily, Miami offers gyms and a plethora of the sort so if you are a gym rat, you can find the perfect fit to flex your muscles. Here are some of the best gyms in Miami. Legacy Fit $$ (Edgewater)
This gym is owned, run and operated by athlete Manning Sumner, who trains professional athletes as well. The motto here is #NoDaysOff and the atmosphere reflects the slogan. Legacy Fit is your neighborhood gym offering running, weightlifting and circuit training as well as specific classes. The classes are boot camp style, which means it’s a hardcore sweat session for anyone who joins. The entire class must run laps for anyone who fails to complete their workout- how’s that for motivation! Fitbox Method $$ (Downtown) Fitbox offers their first class free as a perk to get you to sign up for the awesome classes they have, and it works. Their sixty minute cardio and strength training class helps you burn fat while building muscle in a fun, fast paced group. They also offer thirty minutes of boxing as a cardio class. What’s really unique about this gym is the photo booth in the front which gives you the option to take a pic before or after your workout. In the spirit of South Beach, why not do both! Barry’s Bootcamp $$$$ (Sunset Harbor/ South Beach) The Kardashians and Maggie Gyllenhal all give their kiss of approval to this fun boot camp style gym. Like most other gyms, you’ll have the treadmills and weight lifting equipment but they tend to go above and beyond with new equipment and the latest trends in fitness with their classes and trainers. The juice bar in the building is also a nice amenity to this gym. Where this gym is concerned, you get what you pay for if you have the cash to shell out. Soul Cycle $$$$ (Miami Beach) This is the 2nd South Florida Location so that already says a lot about Soul Cycle. In the past few years, the idea that cycling was for your mom has totally transformed into a nation-sweeping trend that both men and women of any age can enjoy. The Soul Cycle in Miami Beach is 26,00 square feet and boasts 54 bike studios as well as a lifestyle boutique. Grab a friend and hit up a class to sweat your ass off! Jetset Miami $$$ (SoFi/ South Beach) Fifteen years ago you could ask any women that recently lost weight what her secret was and by god I bet you she would say Pilates. The craze died down for a while until recently. The past few years have been a revival for small, niche trends in fitness and Pilates has made its way back. Jetset fitness modernizes this workout by adding cardio and strength training. Redbike Studio $$ (Brickell) Another cycling gym you say? Well, I’m sorry but they’re just everywhere! The difference with Redbike Studio is the fast-paced gym is not overly competitive like some other spinning classes that will remain nameless. The motto here is “Ride to the Rhythm of the Beat”, but while you're cycling at your own pace, you are also doing an upper-body workout- which is a huge difference with most bike studios. There’s a refreshing juice and smoothie bar give you a 10% discount on preorders. Anatomy 1220 $$$$ (South Beach) Is this a gym or a club? The owner, Chris Paciello, would like you to think that they are one in the same. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because you’ve probably been to Rockwell and had an unforgettable, yet somehow totally forgettable night. Anatomy is redefining fitness by partnering medicine, sports science and nightlife. If you can afford a membership here, rest assured you’ll have a social life that starts at the gym and ends at the bar. Miami offers so many gyms on every corner promising you to get the body you want. Any gym can give you a work out your body will feel and be proud of. When it comes to choosing the right one for you, try to note what perks you want and what kind of workout you need. No matter where you choose to workout, there will always be that one creepy guy that refuses to workout unless he’s in front of a mirror. So, there’s that.
